The Sarah Lawrence College Dancefilm Festival, celebrating its seventh year in 2023, includes shorts in multiple genres by current students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Sarah Lawrence College. The festival is organized and curated by students and staff.

David Lindsay-Abaire ’92 is a Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, screenwriter, lyricist and librettist. His play Good People premiered on Broadway, was awarded the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play, The Horton Foote Prize, The Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award, and two Tony nominations. His previous play Rabbit Hole received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, five Tony nominations, and the Spirit of America Award. David also wrote the book and lyrics for Shrek the Musical (Jeanine Tesori, composer), which was nominated for eight Tonys, four Oliviers, a Grammy, and earned David the Kleban Prize as America’s most promising musical theatre lyricist. David’s other plays include Ripcord, Fuddy Meers, Kimberly Akimbo, Wonder of the World and A Devil Inside, among others. In addition to his work in theatre, David's screen credits include his film adaptation of Rabbit Hole (starring Nicole Kidman, Oscar nomination), Dreamworks’ Rise of the Guardians, and The Family Fang, among others. He is also, along with Tanya Barfield, Co-Director of the Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program at the Juilliard School.

The MFA Writing Program and The Writing Institute are excited to co-sponsor a craft talk and reading by SLC MFA alum and Writing Institute instructor Marcia Bradley to celebrate the publication of her debut novel The Home for Wayward Girls (April 4, HarperCollins). Bradley will touch on her journey from MFA student to publication, while reading excerpts from the book. Book sales and signing will follow in the Heimbold Visual Arts Center Atrium.

This four-session participatory workshop is for teachers of all grades, when we, and those we work with, are given the opportunity to explore the many qualities and marvels of the natural world, through our capacity to imagine, to play, and to express, the very wonderment of our shared lives, within all that is alive. Based on the educational programs of The Touchstone Center for Children, the workshop will be led by the Center’s Founder and Director, Richard Lewis. in collaboration with Jeanie Yeo, Teaching Associate, The Touchstone Center, and Manager of Professional Development of the Wildlife Conservation Society. The series will be limited to 25 participants. The structure of the overall series will consist of four one-hour Zoom meetings, scheduled from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, on Saturday mornings from January through April, focused on each participant’s personal interests and specific teaching activities. The dates for the workshop are January 21, February 18, March 18, and April 22. We ask that participants commit to all four sessions in the series. This series is being underwritten by The Touchstone Center for Children. Sarah Lawrence is an Approved CTLE Sponsor and offers 4 CTLE hours for this program.
